Are we going to use hard translated copies? Because OYP is already mocking us for using them, claiming the translations are theirs because they were done by their translators. Mmm, well, I am not going to argue against it, because I sort of agree to it, but I'd rather be cautious about it nonetheless. Do we have our own translators? I can help in translating hiragana (yeah, I should thank Danbooru for all the training) and thankfully yukkuri's use hiragana in their speech.

As for hard translated copies, I think we should stick to using notes like in Danbooru since we do have the function. Then maybe we can give some images a tag like "hard_translation_request" to notify that there are people who'd like to have hard translated copies. We also have parent-child post function, so linking the hard translated copy with the original shouldn't be so difficult.

Well, a lot of the hard_translated edits are being posted by yumyumyum, who makes them in the first place. I genuinely don't care what OYP thinks, so if the actual creator is fine with it, then I don't think that there's a problem.

I translate quite a bit, yes.

Be careful about the hiragana thing; it can be quite confusing if you don't also have a firm grounding in Japanese sentence construction and the use of kanji.

If there's a translation you're unsure of, better to leave the note unposted and ask for clarification in the comments.

I think we ought to use a check_translation tag, as well, similar to how it's used on Danbooru.


I don't see any reason not to do both, myself, provided that the ones who do the typesetting and uploading of hard_translated pics are aware that the translation may have errors now and again.

Hard translations are certainly much more convenient for saving to users' hard drives.

And I thought Tora was complaining about us using hard translation from OYP. I feel stupid after having studied so much of comprehension for the entrance exams.... Please ignore the first paragraph of my first thread.

I wasn't objecting to the use of hard translated copies at all. I prefer saving hard copies, too. But notes are much easier to edit, compared to hard copies that are a huge pain to make in the first place. So I thought, how about we use notes for the most part, but if we want to save copies in English, make requests for them? Hard copies are made in OYP because they don't have the note function, but here, we can save the trouble for the most part, you know. Ah, but if hard translated copy makers like Yumyumyum are willing to edit all the images with dialog, then I agree my suggestion would be kinda redundant.

p.s.) Oh, and I'm a South Korean. Lots of similarity with Japanese, so I don't really have to worry about grammar. I agree with using translation_check tag though.
